To evaluate the feasibility of establishing an association focused on and dedicated to the business and practice of professional subsurface utility engineering (SUE).

MWAM was retained to develop a process for evaluating the potential for a new association, convene a meeting of potentially interested firms, conduct an on-line poll, evaluate the results, draft bylaws, host an organizational meeting, conduct an election of the first board of directors, complete all legal filings, develop a strategic plan, and launch a new association.

Community Building

  • The Subsurface Utility Engineering Association (SUEA) was launched, with MWAM as its association management company.

  • Two annual national conferences were convened, both featuring key Federal agency officials among the speakers, as well as a member of Congress who chaired a key House subcommittee with jurisdiction over important SUE-related issues.

  • Liaisons established with key Federal agencies, an education program was established, and a MOU was executed with a related and allied professional society.

Reputation Speaks for Itself

"When we needed guidance on forming a new trade association, Miller-Wenhold Association Management helped us every step of the way.  The firm's knowledge of association management helped us efficiently evaluate options, measure feasibility, organize prospective members, launch the new association, and begin having a positive impact on our market.  The Subsurface Utility Engineering Association would not be where it is today without the support, assistance, and leadership of Miller-Wenhold Association Management."
